Vor 15 Jahren entstand mit „Monrose“ eine der erfolgreichsten Girlgroups!

Monrose 15 Jahre

Die Musikwelt der 2000er Jahre war Bahnbrechend. Vor allem Musik-Casting-Shows waren das neue Phänomen. Nachdem das Format „Popstars“ die No Angels und Bro’Sis hervor gebracht hatte, glaubte kaum noch jemand, dass dieses Format weitere relevante Acts kreieren könnte. Doch dann kamen Monrose!

Heute (23.11.2021) vor 15 Jahren wurde Monrose beim Finale von „Popstars“ gegründet. Das Trio bestand aus Mandy Capristo, Senna Guemmour und Bahar Kizil und löste sich im Frühjahr 2011 auf. Die No Angels waren bis dato die einzige Popstars-Band, die anhaltenden Erfolg nachweisen konnte. Doch auch sie legten noch vor der Entstehung von Monrose eine Bandpause ein und kamen nie mehr in ihrer Originalbesetzung zurück.

Monrose waren ein Überraschung

Die Band aus den Staffeln zwei bis vier konnte nur kurze Erfolge feiern und so knüpften die Produzenten unter dem Motto „Neue Engel braucht das Land!“ gezielt an das Konzept der ersten Staffel und somit der No Angels an. Übrigens die bis heute erfolgreichste deutsche Castingband. Die Jurymitglieder Detlef Soost, Nina Hagen und Dieter Falk suchte also nun wieder gezielt junge Mädchen. Diese stellten sich im November 2006 in einer live ausgestrahlten Finalshow dem abschließenden Voting der Jury und der Zuschauer, bei dem schließlich die drei Bandmitglieder gekürt wurden.

Gleich zu Beginn gab es schon den ersten Aufschrei. Ein Missgeschick bei Amazon sorgte für Gerüchte, dass die Band schon vorher feststand. Am 17. November 2006 war anstelle des vorgesehenen Platzhalters ein Cover der ersten Single auf Amazon zu sehen, das den Bandnamen „Monrose“ verriet und auf dem Katarzyna Zinkiewicz, Mandy Capristo und Bahar Kizil zu sehen waren. Der Sender ProSieben, der Popstars ausstrahlte, bestätigte daraufhin den Namen der Band und die erste Single „Shame“. Als Grund gab man an, dass für alle 20 möglichen Konstellationen bereits Cover und Segmente für das Musikvideo vorproduziert worden seien, um die Band direkt vermarkten zu können.

Im Dezember 2006 kam dann „Shame“ als erste Single auf den Markt. Nur sieben Tage später kam das Debütalbum „Temptation“, gefolgt vom ersten großen Auftritt bei The Dome. Mit „Shame“ brachen Monrose einen Verkaufsrekord. Im Bereich der legalen Musikdownloads gab es seit Beginn der Download-Erhebung in Deutschland keinen Titel, der in der ersten Woche nach seinem Erscheinen öfter heruntergeladen worden war als dieser. Das Album hielt sich 22 Wochen in den deutschen Top 100.

Nachdem sich aber die „Temptation“-Tour in 2007 schlechter verkaufte, als erwartet, wurde hier schon das Ende der Band vorhergesagt. Ein frühes Scheitern der Gruppe, sowie Auflösungsgerüchte machten in den Medien die Runde. Im selben Jahr passiert aber das, womit keiner gerechnet hatte. Die Band veröffentlichte die erste Single „Hot Summer“ vom kommenden zweiten Album und ging damit direkt auf Platz eins der deutschen, österreichischen und schweizerischen Singlecharts. Damit sind Monrose nach den No Angels die zweite Popstars-Band, die nach dem Debüt weitere Nummer-eins-Hits verzeichnen konnte. Hot Summer wurde sogar dann auch in der Türkei veröffentlicht.

Die Trennung

In den folgenden Jahren wurden Monrose mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet und auch ihr drittes Album „I Am“, das mehrfach verschoben wurde, erschien letztlich im September 2008. Ab Sommer 2009 begannen Monrose an ihrem vierten Studioalbum „Ladylike“ zu arbeiten. Im Mai 2010 wurde „Like a Lady“ veröffentlicht und erreichte Platz 9 der deutschen Singlecharts. Im November 2010 gaben dann Monrose bekannt getrennte Wege zu gehen. Zuvor hatte sich die Plattenfirma Warner Music nach enttäuschenden Verkaufszahlen des letzten Albums gegen eine Verlängerung des Plattenvertrages ausgesprochen.

Bis heute gelten Monrose als eine der erfolgreichsten deutschen Girlgroups. Auch wenn ihr Bestehen, wie bei der Originalbesetzung der No Angels, nur wenige Jahre anhielt, hatten Bahar, Mandy und Senna internationales Niveau und kamen als einige Popstars Band an die No Angels ran. Wer weiß, was aus Monrose noch geworden wäre, wenn die Plattenfirme mehr Geld reingesteckt hätte und mehr an die Mädels geglaubt hätte. / Berry
