Fast sieben Monate nach der plötzlichen Absage ihres vielbeachteten Auftritts in Las Vegas, hat Adele endlich verraten, warum sie nur 24 Stunden vor der Premiere alles abgesagt hat.

Adele schockierte ihre Fans mit einer emotionalen Videobotschaft auf ihrer Instagram-Seite, in der sie verkündete, dass ihre „Weekends With Adele“-Residency im Caesar’s Palace abgesagt werden muss. Sie sagte, die Show sei einfach noch nicht „fertig“ und es hätte „Verzögerungen im Zusammenhang mit Covid“ gegeben.

Da viele frustrierte Reisende bereits Tickets, Hotelzimmer und Flugtickets bezahlt hatten, war der Frust groß. Dann tauchten Berichte über anhaltende Streitigkeiten zwischen der „Easy on Me“-Sängerin, ihrer langjährigen Bühnenbildnerin Esmeralda Devlin und dem Personal des Caesar’s Palace auf.

In einem aktuellen Interview mit dem Elle Magazine bezeichnete Adele diese Erfahrung als „den mit Abstand schlimmsten Moment in meiner Karriere“. Sie fügte hinzu, dass sie sich in der Woche vor ihrer Absage zunehmend unwohl bei der Produktion gefühlt habe. Die Show war seit Monaten in Arbeit, aber sie sagte, „es war einfach keine Seele darin“.

„Das Bühnenbild war nicht richtig. Es war sehr losgelöst von mir und meiner Band an und es fehlte an Intimität. Und vielleicht habe ich zu sehr versucht genau diese Dinge in einer so kontrollierten Umgebung umzusetzen“. Im Januar berichtete The Sun, dass Adele wütend über einen Swimmingpool-Stunt war, der für die Show vorgesehen war, und sich weigerte, daran teilzunehmen.

Es fehlte an Intimität

„Als sie das fertige Design sah, weigerte sie sich, daran teilzunehmen. Adele beschrieb den Pool als einen ’sackartigen alten Teich‘ und weigerte sich, sich in die Mitte zu stellen“, so eine ungenannte Quelle. „Die Absicht war, den Pool am Set mit Wasser zu füllen, während sie mit einem kranartigen Mechanismus hochgehoben wurde, um die Illusion zu erzeugen, sie würde auf dem Wasser schweben“. Im Gespräch mit Elle sagte Adele, dass das Wasserspiel „für ein paar Songs großartig aussah, dann aber nichts mehr machte. Es war einfach da.“

Weiter sagt sie in dem Interview, dass sie während der Generalprobe, überwältigt von den übertriebenen Bühnenelementen war. Sie ging an den Rand der Bühne und setzte sich hin. Sie legte ihr Mikrofon beiseite und begann, in dem riesigen Theater mit 4.300 Plätzen zu singen. Da wurde ihr klar, dass es der Produktion an Intimität fehlte.

Neue Termine mit neuer Show

„Das wäre der beste Teil der Show. Für mich, und für euch. Das ist es, was ich will“, sagte sie. „Und nichts davon [in der Show] war so.“ Sie fügt hinzu: „Ich glaube nicht, dass viele Leute das getan hätten, was ich getan habe. Ich bin sehr stolz auf mich, dass ich zu meinen künstlerischen Bedürfnissen gestanden habe.“

Letzten Monat wurden nun neue Termine für „Weekend with Adele“ bekannt gegeben für November 2022 bis März 2023. Adele sagt die neue Show werde viel Intimität bieten. „Ich möchte die Geschichte vom Beginn meiner Karriere bis heute erzählen. Ich werde nicht zu viel darüber verraten, aber die Show wird wachsen. Es geht nur um die Musik und es ist sehr, sehr nostalgisch. Es wird wirklich schön werden.“
