Nach sechs Jahren veröffentlicht Peaches ihr neues Studioalbum „Rub“, das am 25. September 2015 erscheint. Laut Peaches ist das neue Album das kompromissloseste musikalische Statement ihrer Karriere. Die Sängerin ist bekannt für ihre schonungslos ehrlichen, Geschlechtergrenzen ausradierende Musik, Looks und Videos. Nun erscheint die neue Single „Close Up“ mit einem Video ganz á la Peaches.
Der neue Track „Close Up“ ist ein halb gesprochener Track auf massiven Beats. Für die Single und dem dazugehörigem Video holte sich Peaches keine geringere als Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) hinzu: „Nach sechs Jahren fand ich es einfach wieder wahnsinnig spannend, was ich in meinen Songtexten zum Ausdruck bringen kann, und wofür der Name Peaches überhaupt steht“, so ihr Kommentar. „Und ich hatte dieses Mal das Gefühl, wirklich jede Idee ausprobieren zu können, die mir gerade in den Sinn kam. Wir haben jeden Tag 10 Stunden lang Beats gemacht, und wenn sich etwas davon gut anfühlte, dann schrieb ich Texte dazu und entwickelte den jeweiligen Song weiter. Unser einziges Ziel lautete: Das Beste für dieses Album aus uns herauszuholen.“
2000 veröffentlichte Peaches ihr Debütalbum „The Teaches of Peaches“ und wurde schlagartig weltbekannt. Die Singleauskopplung „Fuck The Pain Away“ war in den Jahren danach unter anderem in Sofia Coppolas „Lost In Translation“, in der Sitcom „30 Rock“, „South Park“ oder auch der HBO-Serie „True Blood“ zu hören. Bis zum Ende des letzten Jahrzehnts veröffentlichte Peaches noch drei weitere gefeierte Alben, auf denen sie unter anderem mit Größen wie Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, Josh Homme und Beth Ditto arbeitete.
„Close Up“ ist die zweite Single aus „Rub“. Zuvor ist das Musikvideo „Light In Places“, den sie der britischen Performance-Künstlerin und Luftakrobatin Empress Stah auf den Leib geschrieben hat, erschienen:
